Kari Lake Challenges Media to Ask Katie Hobbs About Her Support for Radical Abortion Policies

“I want to know where Katie Hobbs stands” on abortion, responded Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake to a reporter who asked about whether the pro-life Republican supports the state’s abortion ban.

“I support saving as many lives as possible and what I really want to know – and I’ve been waiting, I tune into you guys all the time,” Lake said, speaking to the media during a press conference. “I want to know where Katie Hobbs stands, but I never hear you guys ask her that.”

“Abortion is effectively banned in the state right now,” a reporter said to Lake during the press conference. “Tell me, do you, is that something that you support?”

In September, Arizona’s Pima County Superior Court lifted an injunction that had blocked enforcement of a state ban on abortion, with the exception of a need to save the life of the mother.

“I’m pro-life,” Lake said during the press conference, and continued:

My plan would be that every woman who walks into an abortion clinic know that there are options out there. They don’t have to choose that. There’s families who would love to adopt a baby and, right now, the way it’s been going, they go in and they only have one option. Nobody tells them that there’s other options. We want to help our women, if they’re afraid we want to help them. We want to give women health care.

“But, I really challenge you,” Lake asserted. “And I’m happy to get back to you on this when you find out where Katie Hobbs stands, because let me tell you where she stands. She supports abortion right up until birth, and after birth, she supports if a baby survives a botched abortion that that baby die on a cold metal tray.”

“And none of you ever tried to get her to talk about her stance,” the Republican candidate accused. “So, get back to me after you do.”

On Lake’s campaign website, the candidate states she is pro-life and believes in “providing the resources necessary for mothers to embrace life, as I do.”

“As Governor, I will put significant new resources into helping pregnant women choose life-saving options including adoption, parental support and guidance, and neo-natal treatment,” Lake says, voicing her support for pro-life pregnancy care centers.

Furthermore, the GOP candidate notes, “it takes two to make a baby”:

Many fathers report extreme distress in the wake of an abortion, however, fathers must also be held accountable and directed to support women they have impregnated throughout their pregnancy, not just after the baby is born, and I will seek to reform Arizona’s laws to ensure they do.

Lake adds she also believes in helping to make “all common forms of birth control available over-the-counter” to “support people who choose to act responsibly when they are not ready to have a child.”

According to KPHO Phoenix, Democrat gubernatorial candidate Hobbs held a news conference Saturday, in which she reportedly said, “We deserve the health care that is our right, and access to safe, legal abortions, period.”

In a press release posted late in September to her campaign website, Hobbs condemned the state’s abortion ban and pledged to “call a special session of the legislature on Day One to repeal this draconian ban,” if elected.
