Two People Dead, Five Teens Injured in Arizona Border City Shooting, Police Say

by Madeleine Hubbard

Arizona’s Yuma Police Department on Sunday said that two men died and five teenage males were injured in a shooting.

No suspects are in custody after the shooting late Saturday evening in a residential block of the border city, police said.

Officials responded to reports of shots fired shortly before 11 p.m. local time Saturday and found several gunshot victims.

A 19-year-old male was transported to the Yuma Regional Medical Center before police arrived on the scene, but he died shortly thereafter, police said. A 20-year-old male was transported by the Yuma Fire Department to the same hospital, where he also died.

A 16-year-old male was airlifted to Phoenix to be treated for life-threatening injuries, officials also said.

The other gunshot victims, males between the ages of 15 and 19, had non-life-threatening injuries that they were treated for, according to law enforcement.

The investigation is still active and the Yuma Police Department is encouraging anyone with information in the case to come forward.
