Yuma Sector Border Patrol Catches Convicted Child Sex Offender Crossing Illegally

The Yuma Sector Border Patrol Wednesday said it caught a Mexican national who has a record of sexually abusing children crossing the southern border illegally.

The agents “caught a sex offender who illegally entered the U.S. from Mexico Wednesday,” and that “Marco Julio Bran, a 35-year-old Mex[ican] national, was convicted in 2008 for lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 and was sentenced to three years in prison,” according to Chief Patrol Agent Chris Clem.

It is unclear what will happen to Bran next.

What is clear is that sex offenders are crossing the U.S. border in large numbers.

As reported by the Arizona Sun Times, five sex criminals were arrested in one week alone during July of last year, all illegally attempting to cross the border for at least the second time.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), which has been overwhelmed by a massive surge of illegal aliens under the Biden administration, often apprehends illegal aliens with prior criminal records.

In fact, according to Attorney General Mark Brnovich’s (R) office, nearly three quarters – 73 percent – of illegal aliens captured crossing the border in June of last year had prior criminal records in the United States.

“These numbers represent United States Attorney’s Office prosecutions only,” that report said. “These numbers do not include individuals apprehended by immigration enforcement officials and subjected solely to administrative process.”

As of October of last year, an estimated 200,000 illegal aliens had avoided capture by CBP. The true number of illegal aliens who have successfully crossed into the United States cannot be known.

Meanwhile, the Biden administration has announced that it will repeal Title 42, a Trump-era rule that allowed illegal aliens to be turned away at the U.S. Border during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Critics say that will make the crisis at the border even more overwhelming for local, state and federal law enforcement.

Twenty-one attorneys general, Brnovich chief among them, have filed a lawsuit against the Biden administration seeking to keep the rule in place.

“What President Biden is doing by rescinding Title 42 is not humane; it is insane,” said Brnovich when he filed the lawsuit. “Biden is actively decriminalizing and incentivizing illegal immigration to bring in as many people as possible without any regard for the safety and well-being of Americans.”
