Maine Governor Janet Mills (D) signed a bill into law Wednesday that expanded access to abortion through all nine months of pregnancy, making the state one of the least restrictive in the nation when it comes to ending the lives of unborn babies.

LD 1619, dubbed “An Act to Improve Maine’s Reproductive Privacy Laws,” states an abortion may be performed “after viability,” i.e. when the unborn baby can survive independently outside his or her mother’s womb, “when the abortion is necessary in the professional judgment of a licensed physician.”

Idaho Supreme Court Finds No ‘Explicit Right’ to Abortion, Upholds Ban

The Idaho Supreme Court on Thursday upheld a state abortion law that bans the procedure except in cases of rape, incest or to protect the life of the mother, rejecting the claim that the state’s constitution provides a right to abortion.

March for Life President Calls for Americans to ‘Fearlessly Continue Marching’

Maryland Clinic to Offer Late-Term Abortions Months After Baby Can Survive Outside Womb

An obstetrician-gynecologist is opening an all-trimester abortion clinic in College Park, Maryland, that will perform abortions as late as 34 weeks, or eight and a half months, according to NPR.

The clinic, Partners in Abortion Care, plans to offer late-term abortions to women traveling from states with abortion restrictions in light of Roe v. Wade being overturned, according to NPR. Children are considered “viable,” or likely to survive, at 24 weeks, and at 34 weeks they have a 95% survival rate and the same long-term health outcomes as babies born full-term.

MSNBC Contributor Slams Democrats as ‘Too Weak’ to Handle SCOTUS Fallout

A MSNBC contributor told “ReidOut” host Joy Reid Monday night that Democrats were “too weak” to attack Republicans over Supreme Court rulings on abortion and guns.

“Of course Democrats will be to too weak to handle this,” Jason Johnson, a political scientist and professor at Morgan State University, told Reid. “Here’s the thing, Joy, I have one slight disagreement here. I don’t think the Democrats need to convince the American people that this is a theocratic power grab. They need to convince their own party.”

Unregulated abortion pills are being sold over the border in Mexico and are expected to be smuggled back into the U.S. as an illegal alternative for American women looking for pregnancy termination services.

These abortion pills are readily available over the counter across the border at Mexican pharmacies, according to NPR. Nuevo Progreso is located less than half a mile from the U.S. border, making it easily accessible for Americans to buy medication in-store and for the medicine to be bought in bulk and smuggled back across the border.
