by Nicholas Ballasy

The House GOP conference is heading into a second speaker candidate forum this afternoon — this time with Reps. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and Austin Scott, R-Ga., as expected contenders.

Rep. Austin Scott (R-Ga.) has declared his intention to run for speaker, according to a source close to the process.

House Majority Leader Steve Scalise dropped out of the speaker race after winning the nomination due to lacking 217 votes needed to win on the House floor.
