Vermont Supreme Court Upholds Law Allowing Non-Citizens to Vote in Local Elections

The Vermont Supreme Court ruled in favor of a law permitting noncitizens to vote in local, municipal elections. In 2021, the state Legislature backed bills to change the local charters of Montpelier and Winooski to permit noncitizen voting in local elections. Though Republican Gov. Commentary: The Walls Are Closing In on Woke DAs

Throughout America’s run as the freest country in history, we have implemented a broad range of ideas on governance, with varying results. Having a Bill of Rights in our Constitution, for example, was a very good idea. Allowing noncitizens to vote in local elections, not so much.

Among the notions firmly in the “bad idea” box has been the recent trend of advancing radical, “progressive” district attorneys in a slew of metropolitan areas. These DAs have unleashed a torrent of violent crime, illegal aliens, and general lawlessness that has made these once-sparkling cities unlivable. The new legislation declares that any illegals who have lived in the city for at least 30 days, such as green card holders, DACA recipients, and illegals with workers’ permits, are allowed to vote in elections for mayor, city council, public advocate, and borough president.

Tea Party Patriots to Train Candidates for Local Elections

Tea Party Patriots will focus on training and helping elect “constitutionally conservative” candidates for local elections across the country.

The organization is partnering with American Majority to encourage residents to “step up and participate in government.”

“As we watch a full-fledged attack on our freedoms from the local level all the way to the federal level, we simply can’t depend on the current class of politicians to save us,” Jenny Beth Martin in a statement. “From local school boards allowing — and, in some cases, forcing — our children to learn about anti-American concepts to city councils, mayors, and governors forcing mandates on the population that are a direct violation of our rights as free people, the time for patriots to step up and participate in government is now.”
