Kari Lake secured the endorsement of the Oil and Gas Workers Association (OGWA) for her U.S. Senate bid on Tuesday, with the group highlighting her commitment to “American energy dominance” in a statement.

Lake revealed the endorsement in a post on X, formerly Twitter, writing that she was “honored” to receive the endorsement from the nonprofit trade association operated by oil and gas workers.

She said, “Blue-collar workers fuel our economy and keep our country running.”

Lake added that Representative Ruben Gallego (D-AZ-03) and Senator Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ) “have voted for policies that directly result in the loss of thousands of blue-collar jobs across our country, and reversed American energy independence.”

In a statement posted to Lake’s campaign website, OGWA President Matt Coday warned “oil and gas jobs, the great State of Arizona, our economy, and America’s energy independence are under attack,” and said Lake “will restore American energy dominance, secure our borders, and secure our elections are free and fair for all Americans.”

Coday said Gallego and Sinema support policies that hurt “every American” by “making it hard for working families to put food on the table, gas in the car, and heat our homes.” The OGWA president also promised that Lake “will stand up against radical ‘environmentalists,’ misguided politicians, and hostile foreign nations'” who stand in the way of “America’s energy independence.”

Prior to endorsing Lake, OGWA announced endorsements for former President Donald Trump and Abe Hamadeh, who ran to become Arizona Attorney General in 2022. Hamadeh is now running for U.S. House in Arizona’s 8th Congressional District.

The congressional candidate announced his decision to run shortly after Representative Debbie Lesko (R-AZ-08) said she will not seek another term.

When OGWA endorsed Trump in September, Coday told oilprice.com that “Trump has been the most pro-American Oil & Gas Workers president ever, with 11.3 million jobs supported by our vital industry in 2019,” and noted the United States “became energy dominant” with a “booming economy” when Trump was in office.

OGWA previously endorsed Blake Masters’ campaign to represent Arizona in the U.S. Senate in 2022, noting that “every vote in the Senate is crucial” in that endorsement. Masters is currently running for the U.S. House in the same race as Hamadeh.

Lake began her campaign with an endorsement from Trump but has more recently secured endorsements from established Senate Republicans.

Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) endorsed Lake last week, promising she “will stand up to the Biden agenda and put Arizonans first.” In October, she received the endorsement of Senator John Barrasso (R-WY), who is chair of the Senate Republican Conference, amid rumors the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) may support her campaign.
