Republicans Reps. Jim Jordan of Ohio and Mike Johnson of Louisiana are launching a congressional inquiry into the Justice Department’s political enforcement of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act, The Daily Signal has learned.
“Several recent actions by the Department reinforce the conclusion that the Justice Department is using its federal law enforcement authority as a weapon against the administration’s political opponents,” the Republican congressmen said in a letter to both Jacqueline Romero, the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and Attorney General Merrick Garland. “Since the unprecedented leak of a draft Supreme Court opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the Justice Department has politicized enforcement of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act.”
Republicans still hold largely positive views of former President Donald Trump and widely believe he can win the presidential election in 2024, an Ipsos/USA Today poll found.
The FBI’s Aug. 8 raid on Trump’s Florida residence at Mar-a-Lago does not appear to have hurt Trump’s popularity among Republicans, according to the poll, which was conducted Aug. 18-22. Republican voters in the survey were far more likely to support Trump running again in 2024 and to view him as possessing positive traits compared to Republicans who oppose him.
The FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago represents the logical next step in the left’s ongoing effort to destroy Donald Trump. The raid also evinces Democrats’ spiral of worry: A successful Trump return, once unthinkable to them, is looking more possible by the day. To stop it, Democrats and their anti-Trump Republican allies are prepared to shred every last norm of American due process.
A Florida judge Thursday ordered some of the documents related to the FBI’s raid on former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate to be unsealed.
In an acknowledgment the FBI over-collected evidence during the Mar-a-Lago raid, the Justice Department informed Donald Trump’s team Monday that agents seized the former president’s passports and are obligated to return them, Just the News has learned,
DOJ was making plans Monday evening to return the passports and have also alerted defense lawyers the FBI may have obtained materials covered by various privileges that will be returned in the next two weeks, two sources told Just the News.

The American Republic became a Banana Republic on Monday in the eyes of many conservatives in the same way many liberals imagined the nation averting such a fate on 1/6.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy vowed to investigate the Department of Justice should Republicans secure the House majority in the November midterms following the FBI raid on Mar a Lago.
Lawmakers and high profile candidates for office in Arizona are reacting to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) raid on former President Donald J. Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home in Palm Beach, Florida.
“Congress must look into the viability of our federal law enforcement agencies that abuse their authorities for political purposes. Rogue individuals within the FBI and DOJ are violating their oath of office by not upholding the law and they need to be held more accountable,” said Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ-05).
Project Veritas founder James O’Keefe released video footage from last November, showing armed FBI agents raiding and ransacking an employee’s home. The Feds raided two of O’Keefe’s employees’ homes on November 4, on the orders of federal prosecutors from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York. They raided O’Keefe’s apartment in Mamaroneck, N.Y., a couple of days later in connection with Ashley Biden’s allegedly stolen diary.
O’Keefe contends that he and his journalists were targeted because of their investigative journalism.
The footage begins with the FBI banging loudly on the door, and with the startled journalist responding shakily, “I’m sorry, what is this regarding?”
Last week the FBI raided the home of an Alaska couple who had attended former President Donald Trump’s Jan. 6 peaceful rally near the White House.
According to the Alaska Watchman:
Paul and Marilyn Hueper, owners of Homer Inn & Spa, woke with a start at 9 a.m. April 28 when a dozen armed FBI agents kicked down their front door in an investigation associated with Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s stolen laptop, which was taken during the Jan. 6 siege of the nation’s Capitol.
