Even as President Joe Biden touts his support for Israel, many of his appointees have expressed anti-Israel and anti-Semitic sentiments, even after Hamas terrorists invaded Israel and killed more than 1,400 people, including at least 31 U.S. citizens.
“Biden has appointed the most anti-Semitic, anti-Israel people to important posts we’ve ever seen,” Zionist Organization of America National President Morton Klein told Just the News.
ZOA has identified dozens of current and former Biden administration officials with a history of anti-Israel and anti-Semitic comments.
For example, Secretary of State Antony Blinken was on the list, in part because he opposed sanctioning Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and designating it as a foreign terrorist organization. Iran is a known funder of terror groups targeting Israel, including Hamas and Hezbollah.
After the Oct. 7 attack against Israel, Blinken made a post calling for Israel to reach a cease-fire with Hamas. He has since deleted the post.
“Almost every person appointed to an important post is hostile to Israel. This is anti-semitism,” Klein alleged.
Another high-profile example of anti-Israel sentiment in the administration comes from National Security Council senior intelligence director Maher Bitar (pictured above with his family in the Oval Office with then-Predisent Barack Obama).
As a student at Georgetown in 2006, Bitar led the Students for Justice in Palestine and hosted a student meeting about how to demonize Israel in the minds of Christians.
The Georgetown Students for Justice in Palestine Chapter put out a statement blaming the brutal Oct. 7 Hamas terrorist attack on Israel, as have many other chapters across the nation.
After earning his law degree from Georgetown in 2012, Bitar earned his master’s from Oxford and wrote his thesis about the “Nakba,” the Arabic word for “catastrophe,” referring to the founding of Israel in 1948.
In another example, Biden appointed Reema Dodin to serve as White House Legislative Affairs deputy director. She justified Palestinian suicide bombings against Jews as the “last resort of a desperate people” during the Second Intifada in 2002 when she spoke in Lodi, Calif., about the conflict as a student at Berkley, according to the Lodi News-Sentinel.
Biden’s campaign was also filled with people expressing anti-Israel sentiments. A 2021 letter signed by more than 500 Biden campaign alumni demanded the president to “hold Israel accountable for its actions” after Israel responded to a barrage of rockets from Gaza.
At least nine of the letter’s signatories are now Biden administration staffers, according to an analysis from RealClearPolitics. Other signatories went on to work for Democrats in Congress, such as Vannary Kong, who serves as a staff assistant at the Senate Armed Services Committee, and Samuel Aleman, who is digital director for Rep. Jimmy Gomez, D-Calif.
The Biden administration also has sent $730 million to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, which works exclusively with Palestinians, according to the New York Post.
“It is well known that UNRWA has a history of employing people connected to terrorist movements like Hamas, promoting anti-Semitic material in its textbooks, and allowing Hamas to use its schools to store weapons,” Sen. Jim Risch, R-Idaho, wrote about the organization last year after it came to light that teachers hired by the U.N. agency called for the murder of Jews.
The agency said earlier this month that Hamas stole their supplies for civilians, but the post was later deleted.
The donations to the U.N. agency are in addition to the hundreds of millions of dollars that the Biden administration gave directly to the West Bank and Gaza, even as Hamas terrorists in Gaza continue to use that funding for terror.
Biden’s defenders point to his recent trip to Israel, his support of the Israeli offensive against Hamas and his efforts earlier this year to unveil an anti-Semitism strategy nationwide.
The Biden administration’s funding isn’t limited to people in Palestine.
By easing sanctions on Iran to allow the Islamic Republic to export oil to China, it gave Tehran more than $50 billion, according to the think tank the Foundation for the Defense of Democracy.
“I would say that Joe Biden is the most hostile to Israel president we’ve ever had,” Klein said.
Additionally, Biden partnered with the Council on American-Islamic Relations for his administration’s “Strategy to Counter Antisemitism” earlier this year.
After the attack on Israel, CAIR CEO Hussam Ayloush said he is trying to fight the “myth” that the murders of innocent civilians was “unprovoked.” Some of the organization’s leaders have expressed support for violence against Israel and refused to express support for Israel’s right to exist, according to the Anti-Defamation League.
Klein said it was “ludicrous” that CAIR is included in the anti-Semitism strategy.
“That’s like having David Duke put together a program against racism against blacks,” he said, referring to the former Ku Klux Klan grand wizard.
He also called for Deborah Lipstadt, Biden’s special envoy for antisemitism, to be fired, citing how she has not condemned anti-Jewish rallies and statements across U.S. universities.
“These are barbaric rallies against Jews and Israel,” Klein said. “Instead, we have Biden demanding a Palestinian state. Does that make sense? You think that’s a safe thing for Israel, to have a Palestinian state right now? It’s ridiculous. It will be a terrorist state just like Gaza is.”
Klein advised Jews across America to start pressuring their leaders to “speak out more forcefully and to demand that Biden condemn this.”
