Potential Terrorist Apprehended at Southern Border in Arizona

Police/ICE Arrest

Border Patrol agents working in the Yuma Sector apprehended a potential terrorist at the U.S. Southern border, according to border officials.

The individual, who entered the country illegally, came from Saudi Arabia and is connected to multiple Yemeni subjects of interest.

“#USBP #YumaSector agents apprehended a potential terrorist who illegally entered the U.S. from Mexico Thursday night. The 21-year-old migrant from Saudi Arabia is linked to several Yemeni subjects of interest. #BorderSecurity is #NationalSecurity,” tweeted Yuma Sector Chief Patrol Agent Chris T. Clem.

In recent weeks, the Yuma Sector has experienced an explosion of migrants attempting to enter the country. According to state officials, the surge is due to the Biden administration reinstating the Trump administration’s “Remain in Mexico” policy in Texas, but hasn’t applied it to Arizona, yet.

To respond to the increase in border activity, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey has authorized extra law enforcement officials to assist border patrol authorities. The governor’s office will dispatch 24 personnel, six vehicles, four ATVs, and one light utility helicopter to aid Border Patrol officials.

“It’s clear the Biden administration has created a December Disaster at our border,” said Governor Ducey at the time. “As a result of piecemeal policy and a lack of federal involvement, U.S. Customs and Border Protection has been inundated. We simply cannot stand by and watch this catastrophe unfold. We are taking action at the state level to protect Arizonans and our communities. My thanks to the men and women of the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the members of the Arizona National Guard, the team at the Arizona Department of Homeland Security, members of the Border Patrol and the entire law enforcement community for your commitment to protecting Arizonans.”
