GOP to Investigate John Kerry’s Secret Negotiations with Chinese Communist Party

Congressman James Comer (R-Ky.), Chairman of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, will be directly probing secret negotiations held between John Kerry and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

As reported by Fox News, Comer sent a letter to Kerry on Thursday informing the Biden official that Comer himself would be investigating the matter. Kerry, a failed presidential candidate and former Massachusetts Senator, was named Biden’s Special Presidential Envoy for the Climate (SPEC) at the start of Biden’s term; the position of SPEC was created specifically for Kerry.

“To date, you have failed to respond to any of our requests,” Comer’s letter to Kerry reads in part. “Yet, you continue to engage in activities that could undermine our economic health, skirt congressional authority, and threaten foreign policy under the guise of climate advocacy.”

“The Committee requests documents and information to understand your role and provide necessary transparency over the SPEC and its activities,” Comer continued. “As a member of the President’s cabinet, you should be representing the United States’ interests. Your statements, however, consistently show disregard for American national security and taxpayer dollars.”

Despite SPEC being a brand new position that never existed in prior administrations, Kerry has assumed the same status as members of the presidential Cabinet and also has a seat on the National Security Council (NSC). Kerry has made numerous trips around the world, lecturing about so-called “global warming” and demanding that other nations trade out fossil fuels and other traditional forms of electricity for “renewable” forms of energy such as wind, solar, and electric.

Kerry has also used the position to hold high-level private talks with Chinese officials, ostensibly to talk about global air pollution, of which China is the top culprit worldwide. Kerry has held at least two such meetings with his Chinese counterparts, both in 2021 and both taking place in China.

However, the exact duties of the position remain unclear, and Kerry’s office has refused to publicly disclose details about its internal operations and who specifically works for the office. As such, Comer is now requesting greater transparency from Kerry.

“We are left with an insufficient understanding of your office’s activities, spending, and staffing,” Comer said in his letter. “To enable long overdue oversight of your office, please provide the following documents and information.”
