Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey Challenges Biden over Hypocrisy of Federal Vaccine Mandates

Arizona Governor Doug Ducey, who has been a constant critic of vaccine mandates, challenged President Joe Biden over his apparent hypocrisy in handling the coronavirus pandemic.

In a recent address, Biden claimed it is not up to the federal government to solve the coronavirus pandemic. However, as Ducey noted, Biden has remained determined to impose federal vaccine mandates for individuals across the country.

“President Biden said today “there is no federal solution” to resolve the pandemic. So why is he trying to force vaccine mandates in all 50 states?” Ducey tweeted.

In the same speech, Biden also contended that elected leaders at the state level are responsible for solutions to curb the growing positive case numbers.

While Biden wants governors to fix the issue, the new position is a flip-flop from when he campaigned for president. Biden pledged to end the pandemic, blaming former President Trump for death totals. However, many states are reporting record case numbers and more people have died in 2021 than in 2020.

At the same time, the federal government has, in certain circumstances, limited the ability of some states to fight the virus. The administration placed a restriction on monoclonal antibody treatments, allowing the federal government to control allocations to each state and forcing state leaders to ration it among locations.

“The president wants it both ways. He’s demanding governors resolve the pandemic because his administration can’t, yet he continues to push vaccine mandates on businesses with no thought to the consequences,” Ducey continued.

“Arizona will continue doing our part in the battle against COVID-19 – from nationally-recognized vaccination sites to bolstering health care staffing & encouraging everyone to get the vaccine who wants one – all without jeopardizing personal liberty or punting responsibility.”
