Tucson Border Patrol Arrests 19-Year-Old Human Smuggler

As the border crisis largely unabated due to a seemingly-disinterested White House, U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) Tucson Sector continues its uphill battle to stop the illegal alien influx.

It reported Tuesday that it captured a teenage human smuggler attempting to enter the United States.

“Tucson Station agents stopped a 2000 Dodge Ram for an immigration inspection on Highway 286 a few miles north of the Sasabe Port of Entry,” CBP said in press release. “During the inspection, they found 10 undocumented individuals concealed beneath sheets of plywood in the truck bed. The bed’s tailgate was closed, dangerously trapping the migrants on top of each other without means of escape. Agents were surprised to find two little girls, ages 4 and 8, and a 17-year-old unaccompanied minor among the group of Mexican and Guatemalan citizens.”

The driver, who remains unnamed, was arrested on federal human trafficking charges. He is only 19-years-old.

The Tucson Sector has been as busy as any CBP sector during the Biden administration’s short tenure.

In October, it seized more than 50 pounds of fentanyl – enough to kill about 11 million people – in a single traffic stop.

It has also dealt with numerous cases of illegal reentry by previously convicted sex offenders.

In a single week in July, the Tucson Sector captured five sex offenders who had served time in American prisons before being deported back to their home countries. Of those five sex offenders, four had been convicted of sex crimes against children.

Meanwhile, the White House said Thursday that it is more than happy to continue resettling illegal aliens in the United States.

“If it saves taxpayer dollars and puts the disastrous history of the previous administration’s use of zero tolerance and family separation behind us, the president is perfectly comfortable with the Department of Justice settling with individuals and families who are currently in litigation with the U.S. government,” White House Deputy Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said.

Jean-Pierre did not elaborate on how resettling illegal aliens in the United States “saves taxpayer dollars.”
