Former President Trump Endorses Kari Lake in Arizona Gubernatorial Race

Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday endorsed former television anchor and journalist Kari Lake in the Arizona GOP gubernatorial primary.

Citing her stances on various issues and her ability to “take on the Fake News Media,” Trump awarded Lake his “Complete and Total Endorsement.”

“Kari Lake is running for Governor in the Great State of Arizona. She is a fantastic person who spent many years working as a highly respected television anchor and journalist. Because of this, few can take on the Fake News Media like Kari. She is strong on Crime, will protect our Border, Second Amendment, Military, and Vets, and will fight to restore Election Integrity (both past and future!). She is against Covid lockdowns, Cancel Culture, and will end “woke” curriculum in our schools,” Trump explained in a statement.

When speaking at Trump’s rally earlier this year, Lake was the clear favorite of the Republican gubernatorial primary candidates.

Furthermore, as reported by The Arizona Sun Times, Trump noted the widespread support for Lake:

“When Trump later recognized her during his speech and she rose, the audience reaction caused Trump to take note and respond, ‘Wow. This may be a good night for you,'” The Sun Times reported.

While endorsing Lake, Trump also took aim at Governor Doug Ducey, labeling the governor a Republican in Name Only (RINO).

“She will do a far better job than RINO Governor Doug Ducey—won’t even be a contest! Kari will make her wonderful family, and the MAGA movement, very proud. Kari Lake has my Complete and Total Endorsement. She will be a great Governor for the incredible people of Arizona!”

Lake will likely receive a boost in the crowded primary from Trump’s endorsement. She is facing multiple opponents, who have also received amplifying endorsements.

Former Arizona Governors Jan Brewer and Fife Symington both endorsed Karrin Taylor Robson in the GOP Gubernatorial primary contest.
